Morning commuters did double-takes on Elgin Street Tuesday morning as Anne of Green Gables and her beau, Gilbert, were handing out steaming paper cups of tea.
Actors Ellen Denny and Alex Furber have been in Ottawa for three weeks rehearsing ‘Anne & Gilbert,’ which runs Dec. 1-19 at the National Arts Centre.
To bring a little bit of PEI to the capital, the show producers gussied up a bus shelter across the street from the theatre as a house from Avonlea, and the stars stopped by to hand out complimentary cups of DAVIDsTEA.
Morning commuters were taken back to yesteryear at the bus stop at Elgin and Slater Tuesday morning as Anne of Green Gables (Ellen Denny), with Gilbert (Alex Furber), were passing out hot tea in front of a bus shelter decorated as her fabled PEI home. The production of Anne & Gilbert, which runs at the National Arts Centre from Dec. 4 – 20.
