Ottawa – Work is underway to rehabilitate a storm sewer at the intersection of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Laurier Avenue. An access shaft will be constructed and a new pipe will be installed within the existing sewer from Laurier Avenue to the Rideau Canal.

As part of this work, the Laurier Avenue westbound ramp from Queen Elizabeth Driveway is closed, with no access for local traffic. Access will be maintained to and from the National Arts Centre on Queen Elizabeth Driveway. A signed detour is posted using Somerset Street and Elgin Street, and flagpersons will be used when required. Cyclists should consider alternate routes. No change to on-street parking is anticipated.

The work will continue until January 2016, then the ramp will be reinstated prior to Winterlude. Final work and landscaping will be done in May 2016.

With all of the construction-related activities underway, residents are encouraged to be flexible with commuting times, stagger work hours or use alternative means for travel. The public is asked to consider options such as transit, walking, cycling or carpooling.
