Westbound Highway 401 was not expected to reopen before this evening following a crash early Wednesday between two tractor-trailers that left broken cases of Perrier sparkling water strewn across the thoroughfare.
Ontario Provincial Police are still reconstructing the events of the crash, which occurred at about 6 a.m.
The collision left one truck on its side blocking the two lanes of westbound traffic while the other remained upright, but blocking the inside lane.
One of the drivers had to be extricated from his cab by first responders and was airlifted to hospital. First responders said he was conscious and speaking to rescuers at the scene.
Cleanup crews were handling the broken bottles, while trucks were picking up salvageable bottles. The other truck was apparently carrying office furniture.
