Ottawa hit a record high for Wednesday as the warm autumn continues, and squirrels continue to feast and get fatter.
At 2 p.m. we reached 10.5 C, which is half a degree above the old high mark set in 1946.
(The coldest ever: -25 C on this date in 1958.)
Every day in December has been above freezing during the daytime hours, even though the normal high for this period is -2 C to -3 C. The average high so far in December (not counting Thursday) has been 5.4 C — more than seven degrees above the norm.
There’s more warm weather forecast for Friday — a high of 11 C, with some showers. It should cool off after the weekend.
