Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and the last mayors of the pre-amalgamation cities belted out Christmas carols at Orchard View Living Centre in Manotick Tuesday as part of the annual “Old Grey Mayors” event.

Watson’s fellow carollers included: Doug Thompson, former mayor of Osgoode township; Glenn Brooks, former mayor of Rideau township; Mary Pitt, former mayor of Nepean; Guy Cousineau, former Vanier mayor; city

councillor Scott Moffatt; and Allan Higdon, former mayor of Ottawa.

Along with pianist Bea Ross, the Old Grey Mayors started in 2002, selecting one retirement home around the city to sing at over the Christmas holidays.

However, the residents seemed far more entertained by the patter between the politicians than their singing.
