Ontario’s corrections employees face a strike in 17 days after the Ministry of Labour issued a “no board report” in the dispute.

The ministry issued the report at the request of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union representing 6,000 jail, probation and parole officers, which means they couldn’t reach a deal working with a conciliator.

When a report is issued, workers are in a legal strike or lock position after a 17-day period that expires on Jan. 10.

The previous collective agreement that corrections employees had expired on Dec. 31, 2014.

More to come …
