A homeowner was taken to hospital after Ottawa Fire Services responded to a detached garage fire at 1627 River Rd. on Friday night.
A residential caller had made a 911 call to report the fire in his garage, which had a vehicle inside, and after arriving on scene firefighters confirmed a working fire “with no exposures”.
Fire services said the fire was contained to the box of a commercial pickup truck and that there was smoke damage to the inside of the garage.
After being assessed for smoke inhalation, the homeowner was transported to hospital by the Ottawa Paramedic Service.
Damage was estimated at $30,000. The cause of the fire had not been determined.
