Ottawa police have charged a 20-year-old man in connection with a convenience store robbery in December in which a store clerk was struck in the head with a phone.
The robbery occurred Dec. 11 at a store in the 1800 block of Baseline Road when a man demanded cash, indicating he had a gun. No gun was seen.
There was an altercation and the store employee was struck with a phone to the head. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money and met a second suspect outside the store.
The clerk sustained minor injuries that did not require further medical attention.
Majid Abdulkhalik, of Ottawa was arrested Monday and charged with robbery and wearing a disguise.
He is to appear in court Jan. 25.
