Ottawa police are investigating a suspicious incident involving two young girls reported in the Carlington Park neighbourhood this week.
Police say a man reportedly approached two girls, both under 10, after they got off a school bus at Cavan Street and Lepage Avenue between 2:30 and 2:50 p.m. Monday. The suspect allegedly picked up one girl and said “come with me,” but then put her down when he was challenged by the other girl. The girls left the scene and told their parents.
The suspect is described as white, five-foot-nine (175 centimetres), with a thin build, short blond hair and a full brown beard. He had dirty teeth and a silver tooth on the bottom row. He wore a brown puffy jacket, brown sweat pants, black running shoes, black tuque and mittens. The suspect had a wrist tattoo with words.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police sexual assault and child abuse section at 613-236-1222 ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
