A major water main break at Carleton University’s Southam Hall Friday afternoon caused flooding in the tunnels, forcing the school to cancel some classes and events.
A university spokesperson confirmed that, in addition to Southam Hall, the Loeb building and library parking garage were affected by the flood.
Southam Hall is closed until further notice. A section of the tunnel stretching from the Tunnel Junction coffee shop to Loeb also remains closed, while the Loeb lobby has reopened.
The source of the break has been identified and is being repaired. There is no danger to the public, and signage will be posted at affected classrooms.
