A 70-year-old Ottawa man faces child pornography charges after an IP address was flagged for using Google to search for images that were shared with an uncover police officer.
The Ottawa police Internet child exploitation unit (ICE) began investigating in early 2015 when the National Child Exploitation Centre (NCECC) received information from its counterpart in the U.S.
The ICE investigation revealed that images and videos of child pornography were made available in 2012 and 2013 to an undercover officer using a publicly available peer-to-peer network.
Police executed a search warrant at an address on Ranchwood Way, near Orléans Boulevard and Innes Road.
Several computers and external digital media devices were seized and will be analyzed.
Glen Boswell, 70, was charged on Wednesday with two counts of possession of child pornography, one count of making child pornography available and one count of breach of probation.
Boswell was to appear in court Thursday for a bail hearing.
