A resident of a two-storey Gatineau building was taken to hospital with minor injuries suffered when they tried to douse a fire in their apartment late Friday night, fire officials said.
The fire began at about 10 p.m. at 328 Hétu Rd., a residential street near Saint-René Blvd. W.
Fire officials said flames were visible from the windows when they arrived at the residence. All three apartments in the building, a total of six people, were evacuated and no other injuries were reported.
Over 25 firefighters and 10 fire vehicles contained the fire to the initial apartment, getting it under control just before midnight.
The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom of one of the apartments.
All but the two people who lived in the apartment where the fire began were able to return home.
Cost of damage to the building and contents have yet to be determined.
