Thin ice continued to be a hazard for family pets on Saturday.
A dog owner called 911 early Saturday evening to report that her retriever had broken through the ice on the Rideau River at Brewer Park.
Ottawa Fire Services said in a release that a rescue crew was dispatched and that the dog was brought safely to shore.
It was the third time a dog has been rescued from icy Ottawa waters recently.
