The Ice Cross Downhill Championship will be part of Ottawa’s 2017 celebrations, Mayor Jim Watson announced Thursday.
The event, which usually happens in “unusual locations with stunning backdrops,” will be held in March 2017 next to the Château Laurier and Major’s Hill Park at the Ottawa locks.
The event is sponsored by Red Bull. The sport is a combination of pier skating, ski cross and border cross, and some of the world’s top competitors will be coming, organizers say.
