U.S.-bound air travellers are advised to check with their carriers as some flights have already been cancelled due to a major storm expected to pound the U.S. northeast.
Hundreds of flights in the U.S. have already been cancelled in anticipation of “Winter Storm Jonas,” due to arrive Friday.
United Airlines and American Airlines each cancelled one round trip to Ottawa Friday — United to and from Washington and American to and from Philadelphia. Both cities are in the storm’s target zone.
United said on Twitter: “?#?Jonas? is snow joke. We’ve canceled flights across the Northeast US.” (The storm has been named Winter Storm Jonas. It follows storms Desmond and Eva, which both hit Britain.)
But flights from Ottawa to the New York area were unaffected as of Friday morning.
