A simple “thank you” might have saved a Russell County driver from drunk driving charges.
Ontario Provincial Police say that Const. Sean Byrne was on general patrol on Jan. 18 when he came upon a vehicle stuck in the snow.
“As the vehicle was finally pushed out of the ditch successfully, the female driver hugged the officer and the officer detected an odour of alcohol,” according to an OPP release.
Following breath tests at the detachment, Mary Ann McNulty, 49, of Russell, was charged with impaired driving.
