Ottawa police have charged an 18-year-old in a child pornography investigation.
In a statement released late Thursday, the police service’s Internet child exploitation unit said it received information in August from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre regarding 34 uploads of child pornography using a San Francisco online bulletin board named Padlet.
The IP address reported by Padlet appeared in the Ottawa area and was subsequently provided to the police.
On Thursday, officers with Internet child exploitation unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the Beacon Hill area. They seized several computers and external digital media. They are now being analyzed.
Police said a “young person” was charged with possession of and accessing child pornography was to appear in court on Friday.
