You still won’t be able to glide along the length of the Rideau Canal in Ottawa Tuesday, but you will be able to skate on two lengthy sections.
The National Capital Commission says a 4.3-kilometre section between the National Arts Centre and the Bank Street Bridge and a 3.1-kilometre section between the Bronson Avenue Bridge and the Hartwell Locks have been deemed safe and will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
However, the ice remains too thin on a 0.4-kilometre section between the two bridges. The public is asked not to venture onto this closed section.
The NCC’ said its Skateway team plans to open the remaining section as soon as ice conditions are safe and weather permits.
