Klin: How to short?

Is this kind of transaction allowed in Canada? Couldn't find it in my broker's online trading system.

You can only short sell with margin accounts. Not all brokers allow you to open margin accounts. The best one I know and the only one I've ever recommended is :

Thanks, my account is cash account with $300 margin, no wonder I can't short.

You can't short sell unless you have cash/margin accounts.
"cash" here means not an RRSP account or similar account.
Not all cash account are marginable.

Also you may not be able to short a certain stocks.

Try to avoid shorting divident stockds.

Another safer way to short is buying put options.
