The Carleton Place man was left seriously wounded in a shooting incident in Almonte Thursday that critically wounded his former common-law partner, Sarah Cameron, and killed her father, Bernard Cameron. He has since died in hospital.
Court records reveal Porteous had had several minor brushes with police before Thursday’s tragedy. Porteous received a conditional discharge for an assault in 2003. He had also been fined for a licence plate violation in 2011 and ticketed in Lanark for being intoxicated in a public place after an August 2009 incident at a bar on Bridge Street in Almonte.
