Ottawa firefighters answering a 911 call on Thursday could see smoke outside a residence on Costello Avenue, near Baseline and Greenbank roads, and entered the building to find a burning pot on the stove. Fortunately the fire had not extended to the cupboards or walls and was quickly extinguished.
A fire services spokeswoman reminded cooks to “stay in the kitchen when you are frying, grilling, or broiling food.”
