Affordable bikes: SportChek, SportExpert, SportMart

Cheap Bikes: Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire, Zellers

Cheapest Bikes: CFC or garage sale

Free Bikes: look for garbage bins

I know that. But generally speaking, bicycles sold at most bike shops are all famous brands, like Trek, Bianchi, Specialized, Giant, Gary Fisher, Norco, Rocky Mountain, ...., you name it. Certainly, each brand has all level products, but if you compare bikes at same level, you will see bikes sold at a bike shop are normally more expensive than in other stores except for especial offers. I don't think most people are willing to spend more on a bike just for the name unless they really enjoy biking. That's what I was trying to point out.

Hybrid bike mean a bike between mountain bike and road bike (racing bike). It's generally used for casual riding.

Giant is a brand name, not a store. You didn't read carefully.

Fair enough, but I wouldn't call Trek a good brand.

Costco has very good bikes (mountain bikes with dual suspension and Shimano breaks) every spring for around $200. Now is a good time to buy a nice bike from some of the specialized stores. Generally speaking, brand names do have better qualities than generic ones.

Trek is not a good brand? Come on man, it's one of the top brands in the world. Lance Armstrong won 5 times Tour de France champion with Trek. Anyway, it's your opinion. Different people have different tastes, always like that.
