Gatineau Police have issued a warning after what appears to be a prescription pill was found in a candy capsule purchased from a vending machine in an Aylmer shopping mall on Thursday.
Police investigators met with the person who made the discovery and as a result, vending machines in the mall have been removed. Police are visiting other businesses that may have similar vending machines.
Meanwhile, an investigation is underway to determine how the pill got into the vending machine and police are consulting with a pharmacologist to determine whether the tablet is a dangerous substance.
Gatineau police warned parents to be careful when buying sweets from children from vending machines, whether they’re in a capsule or not, and always take time to examine the contents of a capsule before giving it to a child to eat.
