March Break art workshops for kids are on offer at Wallack’s by Kate Hession of Kids Outside the Box, running March 14, 16, and 18 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., for ages 6 to 12 years and different themes on each day, 230 Bank St. Cost: $40/workshop.

Register for the Windsor Park Art Show being held plein air on June 5 by the Old Ottawa South Community Association. There is an art space with room for over 30 artists and artisans to exhibit original works. Cost is $50 a table. The deadline for registration is April 29 at 260 Sunnyside Ave. or at oldottawasouth.ca.

Local artist crowdfunding campaign: Artist Mark Stephenson is seeking donations to help him create a Social Portraits series, 100 paintings of photos taken from social media that will then be shared online for all to see, eventually culminating in a show. Call to professional painters, photographers or contemporary visual artists to exhibit works for two weeks at the Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle, ending in a work-exchange with other exhibiting artists. The pieces will be on exhibit from March 17 to 31, with works to be sold to the public for a set price of $300, to be paid directly to the artist. Call for animated works, that’s short films, features, TV series, music videos, PSAs and commercials made after May 29th, 2015, for the 2016 Ottawa International Animation Festival. There is no entry fee and the deadline for submissions is May 13. The show is on Sept. 21 to 25. www.animationfestival.ca

The Asinabka Film and Media Arts Festival is seeking submissions from independent filmmakers, film or video that tells First Nations, Métis or Inuit stories, or that focuses on international indigenous issues, before May 16 for the event running August 10 to 14.
