The hazardous materials team was dispatched for a second time Thursday after reports of people being “overcome” by a chemical smell at a Lowertown apartment highrise.
After dealing with a potential chemical spill at a fire in Greely on Thursday morning, the HAZMAT team was called to 215 Wurtemberg St. just after 5:30 p.m.
Residents had called emergency services after several people were overcome by chemical odours in the building, and the full hazMmat team was dispatched due to reports of the chemicals “causing a medical reaction.”
Crews remained on the scene to determine the extent of the incident and the exact chemicals involved.
Fire officials said the chemicals appeared to be “of a household nature” and that the problem was contained.
