St. Patrick’s Day started too early for a 51-year-old Val-des-Monts man arrested for impaired driving at 8:20 a.m.

The MRC des Collines police were clearing up an accident on Route du Carrefour (Highway 366) when they noticed that an approaching driver was doing a U-turn instead of just taking a detour around the accident.

He needed police assistance to complete the U-turn, and that’s when an officer realized he looked very impaired.

A test found that his blood-alcohol level was two-and-a-half times the legal limit, so police charged him with impaired driving, took away his driver’s licence, and also confiscated the car for 30 days.

The man was on his way to work at the time.
