Ottawa police have reopened several streets in the downtown sector following reports of a suspicious package near the Rideau Centre.

Ottawa police deployed the chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) team to the scene on Laurier Avenue. The roadway was been closed between Nicholas Street and Cumberland Street as police investigated the reports.

The OPP eastbound and westbound exits at Highway 417 shortly after 11 a.m. in order to stem the flow of traffic downtown while Ottawa police worked in the call.

Police announced all streets were reopened shortly after noon. There was no immediate word on the nature of the packae.
