Ottawa police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a set of gas station robberies in Orléans in which the suspect used a syringe to threaten employees.

On Mar. 23, at about 1 a.m., a man entered a gas station in the 1900 block of Trim Road, brandished a syringe at the attendant and demanded cash and cigarettes.

At about 11 p.m., the same suspect entered a gas station in the 1200 block of Trim Road, hopped on the counter and showed a syringe, threatening to stab the attendant.

In both stickups, the suspect told the attendants he was dying before he fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

Syringe robbery suspect

Shortly before the first robbery, the suspect may have entered a drug store on Portobello Boulevard, but left upon seeing a security guard.

There were no injuries in either of the robberies. Police believe the suspect had a vehicle parked nearby.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 20-30 years old, approximately five-feet-seven inches tall and 160-170 pounds with a medium build. He had brown hair and spoke English.

In the first robbery, he was wearing a black leather jacket and a hoodie or scarf to conceal his identity. In the second, he wore a white hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact the Ottawa police robbery unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by downloading the Ottawa police app.
