A 62-year-old man was in critical condition on Sunday evening after his car veered off the road and hit a post at the intersection of Fallowfield and Greenbank roads.
Paramedics, police and firefighters responded to a call about the crash at 4:20 p.m., and when firefighters arrived they found the man in cardiac arrest, without vital signs. They performed CPR until the arrival of paramedics, who started advanced life support and restarted the patient’s heart.
The man regained consciousness while being transported to hospital.
A release from the Ottawa Paramedic Service stated it was believed that a medical event caused the accident.
Ottawa police are investigating.
