A young motorcyclist was caught in a cornfield after a brief footchase Monday after causing a lot of excitement on Highway 401 Monday with his high-speed erratic driving in the middle of the busy post-Easter weekend traffic.
Police said they were called just before 3 p.m. with reports of a motorcyclist speeding on the westbound 401 near Brockville.
According to reports he was riding along the white line lane markers, splitting between moving cars and passing on paved shoulders, all at “extreme speeds.”
Police responding to the call found a trail leading into a cornfield and arrested the Brantford man, 19, in the field after a brief chase.
There were no injuries.
The man was held in custody and was expected to appear in court Tuesday for a bail hearing on a number of charges, including two counts of dangerous driving.
