Pedestrian in serious condition in hospital after being struck on Queensway

A man was in serious condition in hospital after being struck by a minivan on Highway 417 at Bronson Avenue early Sunday.
At 2:31 a.m., paramedics were called to the westbound lanes of the highway and treated a 51-year-old man for “closed head injuries and multi-system trauma.”
Paramedics said the man was thrown “a significant distance” on impact.
The man was immobilized before paramedics began providing rapid treatment interventions.
He was listed in critical condition during transport to the Ottawa Hospital Trauma Centre. Paramedics said his condition improved with treatment, and he was last listed as serious.
All lanes of the highway were temporarily closed at Metcalfe, but were later reopened.
The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating.
