Volunteer Needed: Project Assistant


The Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre is a non-profit, charitable, organization that provides settlement services: language training, employment assistance, needs assessment, information and referrals, to newcomers in Ottawa. Currently, the Client Services department is looking for bilingual (Chinese and English) volunteers to assist with implementing projects.

Start Date: Immediate

Main responsibilities:

• Develop promotional materials: flyers and brochures
  
  
• Search information on-line
  
  
• Develop registration and client sign-in forms
  
  
• Organize clients’ records
  
  
• Translate information from English to Chinese
  
  
• Data entry
  

Requirements:

• Education background in social sciences, community services, social work, community service work
  
  
• Knowledge of on-line search engines, data input and Microsoft office
  
  
• Familiar working in an office environment
  
  
• Keeping information confidential
  
  
• Non-judgmental towards clients with regards to culture, religion, and socio-economic status
  
  
• Able to commit volunteering for a minimum 3 months
  
  
• Able to communicate in English and Chinese—oral, written, and listening
  
  
• Schedule will be discussed with the project staff

• 整理客户的记录
  
  
• 中英文信息翻译
  
  
• 数据输入

职位要求：

• 有社会科学，社工或社区服务的工作或教育背景
  
  
• 有网上信息搜索，整理的经验和使用微软办公软件的经验
  
  
• 理解保密原则
  
  
• 不对客户的宗教，文化，社会经济地位等做论断
  
  
• 保证做义工至少三个月
  
  
• 中英文读、写、听、说流利
  
  
• 作息时间与此项目的工作人员商定
