Gatineau police have arrested a suspect after an axe attack left a man with leg injuries over the weekend.
Just after midnight on Saturday, an unidentified man broke into a residential home at 63 Des Pommiers St.
The resident of the home, a 55-year-old man, was left with several injuries to his leg after the intruder attacked him with an axe.
He was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and released Saturday morning.
Later that day, police arrested a young man in connection with the attack around 6:30 p.m.
The man was scheduled to appear in Quebec court Monday on charges of breaking and entering, and assault causing bodily harm.
According to Jean-Paul Lemay, the communications officer with Gatineau police, there were other residents at home during the time of the attack, but they were uninjured.
