A fire that broke out before dawn did extensive damage to a central Gatineau house Wednesday, but there are no reported injuries.
The fire was “raging” by the time firefighters arrived at 280 Pointe-Gatineau St., a two-storey home. It took 44 firefighters from 16 trucks to fight the blaze. They brought it under control a little after 6:30 a.m.
A report from the fire department says crews had to punch a number of holes through the walls around the fire in order to contain it.
There was no immediate information on how many people have been displaced by the fire, but damage is estimated at $100,000. Police are investigating.
The home is in a residential neighbourhood just north of Parc la Baie.
