Ottawa’s guns and gangs unit turned up no evidence of a shooting after investigating reports of shots fired on Cummings Avenue last week.

Police were called to the 200 block of Cummings Avenue around 8 p.m. on Monday, April 18 following reports a firearm was seen and a gunshot was heard.

Patrol officers searched the area but found no bullets, no shell casings, no victim, and no suspect. No injuries were reported.

The investigation was turned over to the guns and gangs unit, who are appealing to the public for any information relevant to the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 613-236-1222 ext. 5050.

There have been 20 other confirmed shooting incidents in the city so far in 2016.

Cummings Avenue was the scene of two separate shootings in 2014. On Jan. 5, a woman was shot in the leg, though the incident was considered domestic in nature and not gang-related. A man was injured by gunfire on the same street a month later on Feb. 11.
