People were divided over whether LeBreton Flats should have a national stature or a neighbourhood feel.

“I think this proposal during negotiation can be pushed both ways, to raise its national importance and to make it a better local, connected (and) a real part of the Centretown urban fabric,” NCC CEO Mark Kristmanson said Thursday of the RendezVous plan.

The NCC collected 7,939 responses to a survey and held two popular consultation sessions in January.

When it came to the Devcore Canderel DLS proposal, people liked the public space, green space, urban beach, Canadensis walk, grocery store, public library, YMCA and Ripley’s Aquarium plans. On the other hand, they were cold to the car museum and lack of affordable housing. Most respondents were confused by the consortium’s pitch for an NHL arena, even though many like the idea of moving the Senators to LeBreton Flats.

On the RendezVous proposal, people had positive comments about covering the LRT line, green space, green roofs and affordable housing. They particularly liked the idea of the Senators relocating from Kanata. Still, there were others who were concerned there is too much emphasis on the arena in the blueprint.
