Ottawa firefighters declared a second-alarm fire at 195 Rosemere Ave. off Lees Avenue on Saturday night.
At about 8:15, Ottawa Fire Services received numerous calls about flames visible at the back of a two-storey semi-detached brick home, and mounted a quick offensive attack after arriving at the scene.
Firefighters knocked down the main fire almost immediately and had the situation under control before 9.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
There was no immediate word on a cause or a damage estimate.
A spokesman for the Ottawa Fire Service asked the public to avoid the area if possible.
