Ottawa Fire Services announced Tuesday that an ongoing burn ban, which has blanketed the city for weeks, has finally been lifted.
The weekend rain was enough to dampen the ground sufficiently to a point where the possibility of brush fires has been diminished.
Anyone wishing to hold a bonfire — either for personal purposes or to get rid of brush and leaves — is now free to have an open air fire. Individuals must first hold a valid 2016 burn permit from the City of Ottawa.
