The threat — and very wet reality — of the skies opening couldn’t keep the crowds away from Rideau Hall on Saturday afternoon for the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief’s Military Tattoo.

Hundreds huddled under umbrellas as Gov. Gen. David Johnston inspected the 100-person Guard of Honour, one of the highlights on an afternoon that included highland dancers and a 21-gun royal salute in tribute to Queen Elizabeth, who celebrated her 90th birthday recently.

Tours of Rideau Hall were also offered for those looking for less damp activities.
