One person was treated for smoke inhalation after firefighters were called to a garage on Thunder Road in the city’s southeast Thursday evening.
Ottawa Fire Services got the call at 7:24 p.m. and a volunteer firefighter arrived to find that the homeowner had put down much of the fire but flames were still visible on a corner of the roof.
Paramedics treated the resident on the scene. Firefighters had the blaze under control in about half an hour. Damage was estimated at $5,000 to $10,000. The cause was under investigation.
