Police are asking the public to help them finger whoever put a phony “body” on the tracks in Perth Tuesday, delaying a train for three hours during a pointless search.

Lanark County OPP officers were called to the tracks at about 8:30 p.m. after CP Rail reported that a train was stopped after apparently striking a person.

OPP forensic identification officers and CP Rail investigators searched an extended stretch of tracks and neighbouring properties as the train waited.

The investigation revealed that someone had used clothing and other items to make it look as if someone was sitting on the tracks.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (888) 310-1122 or Lanark County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
