On May 26, Stephen Quick, Director General of the Canadian War Museum introduced the Sopwith Pup, a 1967 restoration of a vintage fighter plane on loan from the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.

The ‘Pup’ is the centrepiece of a new exhibition at the Canadian War Museum called “Deadly Skies 1914 – 1918”, which will be formally unveiled to the public on June 9th.

Deadly Skies goes beyond the dogfights and follows the lives and experiences of nine people from both sides of the conflict, who experienced the first air war.

The exhibition will be presented at the Canadian War Museum from June 10, 2016 to January 29, 2017.


Stephen Quick, (R) Director General of the Canadian War Museum and Chris Kitzan, (L) Director General of the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, help move the Sopwith Pup into place that is the centrepiece of a new display at the Canadian War Museum that will be formally unveiled to the public on June 9th.
