A Toronto man repeatedly called 911 on Thursday to complain that his vehicle had been stopped and impounded for speeding about 100 kilometres from Ottawa.
According to the OPP’s Rideau Lakes detachment, a 20-year-old man from Toronto was spotted on Highway 15 near the town of Crosby, in Leeds and Grenville, travelling more than 56 kph over the posted speed limit.
As is mandatory under Ontario’s “stunt driving” laws, he was ticketed and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
The upset driver then demanded that he be driven to Kingston by police, as he was too far away from home without a vehicle.
He was told he would be driven to a safe place in Smiths Falls, but no further. He then called 911 to complain. When that call didn’t pan out the way he thought it would, he called 911 again.
Eventually the man agreed to go to Smiths Falls.
The man’s identity was not been released.
He is scheduled to appear in the Brockville Provincial Offences Court July 6.
