The cause is still under investigation after firefighters knocked down a fire in a storage shed behind a Montreal Road building Monday night.
Multiple 911 calls at about 9:10 p.m. reported flames at the rear and climbing toward the roof at 281 Montreal Rd., Ottawa Fire said. The building is near the Lajoie Street intersection and has several businesses on the ground floor, including a payday loan operation, and apartments on the second floor.
While police closed off traffic, firefighters called a second-alarm fire with a dozen vehicles on scene at its peak.
Police closed Montreal Road and were following up to see if arson investigators would be needed.
The value of the loss wasn’t immediately available. No one was injured.
