A Val-des-Monts man who made an urgent 911 call to cancel police response to his home alarm ended up under arrest Tuesday when patrol officers discovered 271 cannabis plants in his basement.
MRC des Collines police spokesman Martin Fournel said the home alert/911 call came at about 9 a.m. Wednesday to a home on Route du Carrefour.
“The gentleman answered the door to say that it was a false alarm, but policy is to verify a residence after this sort of event,” Fournel said.
The officers went to the basement where they discovered the illicit plants.
It was the second grow-op seizure in two days for MRC des Collines.
The first raid occurred Monday at about 11 p.m. at a residence on Du Busard Road, following a call from a resident.
On arrival, police found 68 marijuana plants and arrested the homeowner, a 26-year-old man.
