Ottawa – Mayor Jim Watson will honour 7 Intelligence Company (Ottawa) with the Freedom of the City this weekend. Granting Freedom of the City is considered one of the most esteemed honours a municipality can bestow on a military unit.
Date: Sunday, June 5
Time: 8 a.m.
Location: Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West, Heritage Building / Nelson Mandela Square,
(corner of Elgin Street and Lisgar Street).
Founded in 1993, the 7 Intelligence Company is a member of 33 Canadian Brigade Group, a military formation that is made up of 16 Army Reserve units located throughout Eastern and Northern Ontario. When called upon, unit members have deployed domestically, in the case of ice storms and floods, and overseas in operational theatres like Afghanistan and the former Yugoslavia.
