Fast-acting fire crews were able to contain a blaze that started in the bedroom of a two-storey home in Vanier on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters arrived just after 3 p.m. at a home at 783 Belisle St., where smoke was visible in a second-storey window. Two residents had already made it outside, and crews quickly contained the fire before it could spread to the attic or the side walls.
The fire was under control within 15 minutes, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage. The cause was deemed to be accidental, and no residents were displaced.
