Two more young men are facing murder charges in the shooting death of Bret Jerome in Maniwaki on the weekend.

According to Sûreté Du Québec, Jay Axel Stevens, 22, and Tristan Stevens Gagnon, 19, were both arrested in Gatineau Tuesday on a warrant.

Amik Mitchell, 22, was arrested at the scene early Sunday morning after police were called to a house party on Cartier Street in Maniwaki, where they found 18-year-old Jerome unconscious with a gunshot wound.

He later died in hospital, and distraught friends and family were holding a wake for the teenager Tuesday in Kitigan Zibi, with a burial planned in the community of Rapid Lake later this week.

All three suspects and the victim were from the nearby Kitigan Zibi, according to police.

Police said the two men arrested Tuesday will appear in court Thursday to face first-degree murder charges.

Police have not said whether a weapon was recovered from the scene and it is not known how the suspects knew the victim.

Jerome’s sister, Christa Jerome, said her brother “was always a good kid but I guess he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. We all loved him very much. He was gone too soon, too young.”
