Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson was joined by former Ottawa Senators defenceman Chris Phillips on Wednesday night as they hosted the #Ottawa4FortMac fundraising event at the Aberdeen Pavillion.
It was a shindig in support of the Canadian Red Cross emergency appeal and the United Way relief efforts to help residents of Fort McMurray rebuild their lives and their community after the recent turmoil there caused by wildfires.
“It looks like a great turnout,” said a plaid-clad Phillips, who is a native of Fort McMurray. “Great to see the support down in Ottawa.”
