The province’s Special Investigation Unit is probing a collision between an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser and civilian vehicle Friday night in Edwardsburgh Township near Kemptville, about an hour south of Ottawa.
The OPP’s Grenville detachment responded to a report of a crash on County Road 2 and Mary Street at around 9 p.m., said the OPP in a release.
Police said the lone male driver of the civilian vehicle was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, and remained in hospital Saturday.
The office was also taken to hospital, but was treated and released with minor injuries.
The SIU was notified by the OPP and has invoked its mandate. The SIU investigates when police are involved in incidents that result in a serious injury or death.
Police asked anyone with information about this incident are asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
